A name is worth checking.
Ask who will check your health and which state office holds their licence record. A logo cannot answer that.
Ask. Check. Keep the answer.
Get a full name
Find the person who will check your health.
A clinician reviews your health and decides on care; the term means a health professional. Ask for their full name, job, and the state office that licenses them. Keep the reply to match it to a public record.
Ask it plainly
Who will review my history, make the decision, and answer my follow-up questions?
Match the place
Your location matters online.
Telehealth is health care delivered through a video call, a phone call, or messages online. Give your location for the appointment and mention any plans to travel.
Evidence card · State permission
Check permission where you are.
For an online appointment, the doctor must have permission to practise where you are physically located, through a state licence or another legal route.

Check permission where you are. — source note
The group representing state doctor-licensing offices suggests limited exceptions, such as follow-up care for an existing patient who is travelling. Each state sets its own rules.
If the doctor says an exception applies, ask which rule in your state allows it.
U.S. health department’s licence guidance
Ask it plainly
What permission lets you provide care in the state I will be in at the appointment?
Use the public record
Check the licence and any penalties.
Evidence card · Doctor records
Read the state board’s entry.
Doctors get their licences from a state medical board. The board’s public records show a licence’s current status and any disciplinary action it has taken, such as a penalty.

Read the state board’s entry. — source note
States differ in what they show. Some states have separate licensing offices for doctors with different medical degrees.
Ask the doctor which board holds their record. Use that board’s search, or ask the board to help find the right entry.
A record showing no public disciplinary action means no such action is listed. That record does not measure the doctor’s skill.
What medical board records can tell you Find the medical board for your state
Match the full name and job, rather than a similar name.
Read whether the licence is current, any limits on it, and any listed penalties.
If details differ, ask the board or clinician to explain the mismatch.
Check the medicine’s source
Get the pharmacy’s name too.
Ask for the names of whoever prepares the medicine and whoever ships it. Keep the full name from the reply and compare it with the label if treatment goes ahead.
The FDA is the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. drug agency.
Evidence card · Pharmacy records
Use your state’s pharmacy search.
The FDA advises checking an online pharmacy with the pharmacy board in your state—the office that licenses pharmacies. If that search does not list the pharmacy, the FDA advises against using it.

Use your state’s pharmacy search. — source note
A licence record does not prove that the pharmacy prepares and supplies medicines correctly.
FDA’s links to pharmacy licence searches
Ask it plainly
Which pharmacy would supply this, and where can I check its licence in my state?
